We’ve been contacted by people who received unsolicited sales calls that appeared to come from Spilt Media — calls about “voice search,” getting listed on other platforms, or fixing a business profile.

If you received a call from 772-348-4240, it was not us. That is one of our numbers, and it is being spoofed — displayed on caller ID by someone we have no connection to. We are confirming additional numbers as reports come in and will list them here.

Caller ID has never required proof that you own the number you are displaying. It is trivially falsified, and there is currently no industry mechanism or government protection that prevents it — there is no service we can subscribe to that makes it stop. We have been receiving return calls about this for months.

If one of these calls reached you: we’re sorry. It’s our number on your screen, and we understand why you’d hold us responsible for it.

What Spilt Media actually does

How to tell a real call from us

A genuine call from Spilt Media will only happen if you contacted us first or are already a client. If you’re unsure about any call:

Hang up and call us back at 561-203-9290. A spoofed number can reach your phone, but it can’t receive your callback — that comes to us. This is the only reliable way to verify.

If you received one of these calls

You can help us shut this down. Send whatever you have to results@spiltmedia.com:

We are documenting every report we receive. Details from people who actually got the calls — the number displayed, the date, the time — are what make a carrier traceback possible, and they are the one thing we cannot get on our own.

You can also report the call directly:

What we’re doing about it

We want to be straight about the limits here: there is no switch that stops number spoofing, and no authority that can simply make it end. We are pursuing every avenue that exists and will update this page as it develops.
